IQ Compendium

Local-first companion app policy and support copy.

IQ Compendium Privacy Policy

Status: pre-release public policy copy for final legal/product review before Store submission.

This policy is written for the V1 product architecture:

Short Form

IQ Compendium stores your workspace data locally on your device by default. Your notes, documents, journals, canvas content, attachments, local database files, backups, and import/export files stay on your computer unless you choose to move, share, sync, export, or back them up elsewhere.

IQ Compendium AI features require IQ Wealth. When you use an AI feature, selected text, document context, prompts, and related metadata may be sent from IQ Compendium to the local IQ Wealth app. IQ Wealth then routes the request to the AI provider configured for your account or organisation. IQ Compendium does not directly manage your AI provider account, OpenRouter account, API keys, model choice, billing limits, or provider policy.

Data Stored Locally

IQ Compendium may store the following data on your device:

On Windows, the current desktop workspace data is stored under the user's application data folders, including:

```text
%APPDATA%\IQ Compendium
The exact path may vary by operating system version, installation type, and future product updates.
## AI Processing Through IQ Wealth
AI features are optional. If IQ Wealth is not installed or running, IQ Compendium should continue to work for local non-AI features.
When AI is used, IQ Compendium may send the following to IQ Wealth:
- the text selected by the user;
- the user's AI prompt;
- relevant document context needed for the AI request;
- limited technical metadata needed to process the request.
IQ Wealth may then send that AI request to an approved upstream AI provider, such as OpenRouter or another configured provider. The provider used may depend on the user's IQ Wealth configuration, account entitlement, model policy, or organisation settings.
Do not enter sensitive information into AI prompts unless you are comfortable with that information being processed by IQ Wealth and the configured upstream AI provider.
## What IQ Compendium Does Not Do In V1
For the V1 client build, IQ Compendium should not:
- require AFFiNE Cloud login;
- publish public share links through AFFiNE Cloud;
- sync workspace data to AFFiNE Cloud;
- directly manage OpenRouter billing or model limits;
- expose provider API keys in frontend code;
- upload local documents for AI unless the user invokes an AI feature.
## User-Controlled Storage And Sync
Users may choose to store exports or backups in a cloud-synced folder such as OneDrive. If they do, that third-party cloud provider's privacy and retention rules apply to those copied/exported files.
IQ Wealth may assist with backup and restore workflows. Restore workflows should create safety backups, use dry-runs where possible, and require explicit confirmation before replacing live local app data.
## Support And Reporting
Users should contact IQ support for product support, privacy questions, account questions, AI-output concerns, and requests about local backup/restore guidance.
The current public support and AI-output reporting page is:
Third-Party Components
IQ Compendium is based on AFFiNE Community Edition and includes third-party open-source components. Licence notices must be preserved in the product and release materials.
Changes
This privacy policy may be updated as the product changes.
Effective pre-release date: 2026-06-01.
