IQ Compendium Privacy Policy

Status: pre-release policy draft for legal and product review. It describes the intended optional-Cloud Compendium build; final installed behaviour and distribution rights still need verification before client release.

Short Form

IQ Compendium is local-first. You can create and use a local workspace without an account. Your local documents, journals, canvas content, attachments and settings remain on your device unless you choose to export, back up, share or use a separate Cloud workspace. Signing in does not automatically upload or convert an existing local workspace.

If you choose an AFFiNE Cloud workspace, its content, attachments, edits and related account/workspace information may be sent to and stored by AFFiNE's service. AFFiNE Cloud is operated by AFFiNE, not IU Australia or IQ Wealth. Use of that service is subject to AFFiNE's privacy policy and terms. Cloud sync does not depend on IQ Wealth.

Compendium AI actions are optional and use the local IQ Wealth gateway. The content you choose for an AI action may be sent to IQ Wealth and then to its configured AI provider. Optional AFFiNE service features, including recording transcription or embedding where available, are separate paths with their own controls and provider terms.

Data Stored Locally

IQ Compendium may store the following on your device:

• workspace databases, notes, documents and journal entries;
• canvas and whiteboard content;
• attachments and imported files;
• tags, collections, document properties and local settings;
• exports and backups you create;
• local logs needed for troubleshooting.

On Windows, application data is stored under the user's application-data folders, including:

%APPDATA%\IQ Compendium

The exact path can vary by installation and product version. A backup or export copied to another folder, including a cloud-synced folder, is governed by that destination's own storage and privacy settings.

Optional AFFiNE Cloud

AFFiNE Cloud is a third-party hosted service that you access with your own AFFiNE account. Choosing a Cloud workspace may transmit workspace content, attachments, edits and technical account/workspace information to AFFiNE for storage, sync and collaboration. The account and remote data are managed through AFFiNE's service and policies, not through IQ Wealth. Cloud storage limits, permissions and availability can change under AFFiNE's terms.

Local workspaces are not converted or uploaded merely because you sign in. If you later sign out or disconnect, that action does not necessarily delete remote copies or previously shared content. Review your AFFiNE account and workspace settings for remote data, sharing and deletion controls. Do not use Cloud sync for sensitive content until you are comfortable with AFFiNE's policies and the chosen workspace permissions.

Optional AI Processing Through IQ Wealth

Ordinary local document use and AFFiNE Cloud sync do not require IQ Wealth. When you invoke a Compendium AI action, the app may send your prompt, selected text, an image you selected, relevant document context and limited processing metadata to the local IQ Wealth app. IQ Wealth may then send that request to the AI provider configured for your account or organisation. IQ Wealth controls the provider, model, access and usage limits; Compendium does not store or choose a provider API key for this route.

Do not include sensitive information in an AI request unless you are comfortable with IQ Wealth and the configured provider processing it. AI output should be checked before use.

Recording and transcription are separate. Meeting recording is off by default in the intended build. If you explicitly enable recording and choose transcription, audio may be sent through AFFiNE's native service path rather than IQ Wealth. The final installed-app consent and data-flow checks remain open; this feature must not be presented as accepted until they pass.

User Choices

• Use a local workspace without an AFFiNE account or IQ Wealth.
• Choose an AFFiNE Cloud workspace and account separately when you want sync.
• Invoke an AI action only when you want its selected content processed through IQ Wealth.
• Review workspace permissions before sharing anything through a hosted service.
• Export or back up content to a location you choose, and review that destination's privacy rules.

IQ Wealth may help with backup and restore. Replacing a live local workspace should require a safety backup and explicit confirmation. A local export is not necessarily a complete replacement for a full workspace backup.

AFFiNE operates AFFiNE Cloud and handles its account and hosted-service policies. IQ Compendium is based on AFFiNE and includes components under different licences; their notices must remain with the distributed app. The exact native-component licence and hosted-service compatibility review is still open for this modified client.
